Repeat Prescriptions
Repeat prescriptions can be ordered via this service. The prescription will be generated within 48 hours (two working days) after receipt of your request. The prescription can then be collected from reception. For example if you give us a request on Monday morning the prescription will be ready after 16.00 on Wednesday afternoon. Requests given on Friday will be available on Tuesday after 16.00. We do aim to handle the prescription request in less than 48 hours however it can as stated take up to two working days.
Patients that are taking Warfarin or Methotrexate will be required to provide a copy of their recent blood tests. This is simply to make sure they
that are taking the correct amount of medication.

At this surgery we have several ways of ordering your prescriptions which are available on repeat. This can be done:
• Online
• By completing a blank repeat prescription request slip and leaving it in the prescription box near the reception
• By ticking off the selected items on your repeat prescription request slip which you will find attached to your prescription
• By posting a stamped addressed envelope to the surgery with your request enclosed
• Sometimes via your local pharmacy, this has to be by prior arrangement between you and them
If you have made an agreement with one of our local chemists to deliver your medication to your home then please enter a note at the foot of the request so that reception staff know to pass the script to the chemist concerned. Please not that this arrangement is only for patients that are housebound or are disabled. You must come to an agreement with your local chemist yourself.
We would ask you not to order repeat prescriptions over the telephone unless absolutely necessary. It is very helpful for us if you could leave a daytime contact telephone number with your request so as we can contact you to discuss any queries we may have regarding your request.
We would like to remind you that only items which have previously been deemed available on repeat can be ordered this way. Unless the item is available on repeat it cannot be issued. For example antibiotics are not available as repeats. Similarly, various pain killers or creams that were given in the past for conditions may not have been deemed necessary or suitable to be put on the repeat list, so it is not always possible to order these. If you are in any doubt please contact the surgery.
Regarding the time between ordering your prescriptions we would ask that you do not request your medication too far in advance of your current batch of medication running out. We tend to issue three months supply at a time for chronic conditions and discourage patients from ordering their medication too early. Thank you for your cooperation in this.
Reminder Slips
There are several reminder slips which you may find attached to your prescriptions. These are generated with your good health and best interests in mind. For example we will often ask you to attend for various blood tests, annual health check assessments or chronic disease reviews. These are often very simple procedures involving maybe a blood test, blood pressure check, basic height/weight measurement or family history review. If you have a longer term chronic condition, for example diabetes mellitus, hypertension or heart disease; a more detailed review may be necessary. We would ask you to cooperate as fully as possible with these requests as you find them attached to your prescription. We are required to carry these out on an annual/biannual basis and as mentioned before it is in the interests of your general good health to have these.
There is a designated member of staff who processes and handles all the repeat prescription requests (John) and he is happy to deal with any queries, requests or difficulties that you may encounter.
