Sick certificates
You do not need a sick certificate if you are off work for less than 7 days. In these situations your employer should by law allow you to complete a self-certification form. However, for any length of time beyond 7 days it is important that you see one of the doctors as soon as possible, although we are able to issue back dated certificates.
In the rare situation where an employer is being unreasonable and asking for a sick certificate for less
than this initial 7 day period, we are only able to provide you with a private sick certificate as long as the doctor feels it is appropriate.
